Our Work in the Community
Square Park Garden
The Frankston Square Park Garden is located on the square in downtown Frankston, TX. It was designed in 2015 with the hard work of Frankston Garden Club members and the Frankston Economical Development Committee.
The park is also maintained by Frankston Garden Club members. Chairman of the FGC park committee is Veronica Mathis. She does a wonderful job overseeing the watering, weeding, and new plantings of the garden. When needed, she will schedule a garden cleanup day where all members are invited to help volunteer to weed, plant, or spread mulch.
Square Park Memorial Planters
Frankston Garden Club also maintains the flowerpot planters at the Veteran's Memorial at the Square Park, located on the North side.
Chairman for this committee is Sue Mikesell. Sue does a wonderful job at keeping the plants in the planters beautiful all year around. If you get a chance, go by the Park Square and look at the beautiful planters.

Meals on Wheels
Each year in February following our garden club meeting, FGC members make a special Valentine for Meals On Wheels recipients, such as flower arrangements, cards, Valentines bags, etc. to be delivered with their meal .
For 2023 the garden club made Valentines Baskets filled with tissue paper, crackers, candy, raisins and much more. Baskets were donated from the Basket Company in Jacksonville, TX. For 2024 FGC made goody bags filled with all kinds of goody's to eat.
Spooktacular on the Square
Frankston Economic Development Committee board members were concerned with children going into neighborhoods they weren’t familiar with and dodging vehicles. FEDC started as a free safe one stop solution, Spooktacular on the Square.
Local businesses and other community organizations are invited to set up booths and tables full of candy and other goodies for young “trick or treaters.” Area children are expected to come in costumes and go from booth to booth throughout the spooky gathering. Adults also customarily dress up and join the activities, taking many pictures for sharing.
“There is nothing better than a community that brings special activities, such as this, to their people,” Gigi Selman said. “This will be a very festive celebration and is a perfect example of community togetherness and support.” Selman is a member of the FEDC and Frankston Garden Club.
Square Fair
Every October marks the Square Fair Event in downtown Frankston on the square.
This much-anticipated annual celebration kicks off with a parade that each year draws participants from throughout the community and neighboring areas, replete with marching bands, decorated floats and patriotic themes.
The central park square is the scene for a full day of live music, vendors, games, and great food.
Frankston Fire Department
The Frankston Fire Department decided they wanted to beautify the area in front of their building, so they contacted the Frankston Garden Club.
Frankston Garden Club members along with a few strong firemen broke ground and planted heat tolerant plants for an easy to maintain landscape.
